Therapeutic Approach

  • Self Compassion

If you’re beating yourself up over your love life, you’re going to struggle to enjoy the relationships you have. You have to accept relationships are hard, but the ones that are important to you, are the ones in which you’re doing the best you can. People who love you can see that too.

  • Trauma Informed

Finding whom you belong with is a challenging journey with little direction. You may feel spent by past relationships and struggle to move through those memories to be present in your current relationship. You deserve to heal and love without fear of pain.

  • Assertive Communication

Your loved ones cannot read your mind; you have to do it for them. Conflict is an opportunity to find agreement, to understand each other’s values, and to make meaning for the future of your relationship. Asserting your needs is just as important for your companion as it is for yourself.

Meet Your Counselor

Nicole comes to counseling with a genuine curiosity and a strong commitment to holistic wellness. She believes the best therapy comes when a person is able to search deep inside and find strength in their own instincts. A true believer that you have all the skills necessary to live the life you want to live, Nicole will work with you as you connect to your inner power.

Nicole comes to this work after years of experience in the field of intimate partner violence. Trained to work with trauma survivors, Nicole builds her therapeutic practice around your unique lived experiences. She believes that all of our experiences leave their mark, and the more aware and understanding we are of those experiences β€” the better our chances at a healthy, full life.

See Your Space

Nicole’s office is in a suite with three other practitioners across from Eastgate Shopping Center in Chapel Hill, NC. This space is wheelchair accessible, includes a single stall restroom, and waiting area where you can help yourself to tea and water.

The office has been designed with comfort in mind, giving you access to candy for nibbling, toys for fidgeting, and lots of pillows for hugging. While the office gets lots of natural light, we also use soft lamp light to supplement on overcast and rainy days.

This space is also located directly off a paved walking trail which you can use to mindfully transition from therapy to the rest of your day. Alternatively, you may request a walking appointment to practice connecting your mind and body while processing.

Finding Your Fit

Therapy is all about fit. You need to find the right person to push you, to slow you down, to balance you out as you process through this part of your life.

The Growth Place wants you to find the best counselor for you and your needs β€” without wasting all your time and money. Request a free 15 minute consultation to figure it out!

Safer Spaces

So much of our intimate lives is stigmatized to the point that we may develop some self-judgement or fear of judgement from others. Unfortunately, this can keep us from our healing. Nicole is committed to creating a judgement free experience so you can be authentic through your therapeutic journey.

While we can never promise a space is safe, The Growth Place strives to be a safer space for those impacted by oppression and its trauma. Nicole is LGBTQ+ allied, poly and kink friendly. She has had considerable racial justice training, but continues to learn, striving each day to be actively anti-racist. She continues to build her knowledge in oppression and privilege and it’s role in trauma-informed therapy.
